A
Twenty-Third Psalm for Volunteers
Volunteer
work is my candle,
I shall not want for light
It maketh me to forget self in
remembering others;
It radiates God’s love to resident
and volunteer alike;
It restoreth my spirit; It leadeth me down
the bright path of service to my fellowman.
Yea, though I walk within walls where
life is sometimes gray,
My candle burns brightly, the light
ever gleaming… Through a nod, a
smile, or a word, I know I am needed.
It glows with the knowledge of a center;
what it stands for, how it serves,
and my cup runneth over.
Surely the rewards of my job far
exceed what I have given,
And the light of my candle of service
shall glow in my heart forever!
